There are no preparations needed for an MRI exam. It is best if you don’t have any jewelry on and wear comfortable clothing with no metal.
What is MRI?
MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is a non-invasive technique that provides accurate and unique information for the diagnosis and monitoring of disease and injury in a wide range of organ systems.
How Does MRI Work?
A magnetic resonance (MR) image depicts the interaction of body tissues with radio waves in a magnetic field. There is no radiation involved with an MRI exam.
How long will the MRI take?
Most MRI exams will take 15 – 20 minutes. MRI exams that require contrast will take approximately 30 minutes. The times listed are an approximation of how long the exams will last. Some scans may take longer depending on the patient’s cooperation and preparation time they need.
Is there a weight limit for the MRI?
Yes, the weight capacity of our MRI equipment is 440 pounds.
What if I am having an MRI with contrast?
There are no special preparations when having an MRI with contrast. However, if you are over 59 or have any of the following conditions you must provide our office with current blood work results indicating your creatinine levels and:
- History of hypertension
- History of diabetes
- History of sever hepatic disease
- Liver transplant and/or pending liver transplant
- History of kidney disease
How long will it take to get my MRI exam results back?
The results of your MRI exam will be interpreted by one of our Board Certified Radiologists within 24-48 hours. Your results will be faxed and delivered to your physician immediately after they have been received by our office.
What if I am claustrophobic?

We use a High Field 1.5T Wide Open Bore MRI that is one of the most advanced machines in the entire state of Florida.
Is your staff certified?
Yes, we have board certified Radiologists and MRI certified Technologists on staff that will assist you.
Do I need an appointment for an X-Ray or MRI?
If you do not have an appointment, we do welcome walk-in patients needing X-Ray services. For MRI exams, same day appointments may be available.
